Southern Athabasca Oilsands Producers Committee

The Southern Athabasca Oilsands Producers Committee provides a member forum to identify and discuss issues related to the impact of resource development in the southern portion of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.
Current Discussions and Activities
- Identify opportunities to collaborate on infrastructure development, environmental initiatives, communications efforts, and effects of development on Aboriginal peoples living in proximity to the southern border of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo
- Evaluate regional organization(s) developed within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and make recommendations to the Oil Sands Developers Group Board on initiatives to build positive relationships
- Work to ensure issues specific to southern producers can be moved to the appropriate government level and communicated as having equal priority to that of mining operations in the northern half of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo
- Pace and scale of development within the southern part of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and the northern portion of MD87 out of Lac La Biche
- Identify infrastructure needs (i.e., communications, air strips)
- Identify cumulative project effects and communications requirements for southern communities of Anzac, Janvier, Chard, Conklin, Hart Lake, Lac La Biche
